Be “One-in-a-Million”!

Most people think they will never need an organ or tissue transplant to stay alive.  They'd say the chances of it happening to them are "One-in-a-Million”.

But to Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land or someone waiting for a life-saving transplant, the term “one-in-a-million” has a different meaning - it signifies hope.  A hope that takes deeper root with every name added to the Michigan Organ and Tissue Donor Registry.

Tragically, many who need organ or tissue transplants don’t receive them because there aren’t enough donors available.  One Michigan resident dies nearly every other day because of a lack of organ and tissue donors.  That is why Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land is committed to boosting the number of names on the donor registry to one million.

By enrolling on the donor registry, you can help save the life of a family member, neighbor or someone in your community.   It’s so easy to “donate life”.  It only takes a few minutes to designate your wishes to be an organ and donor.  Please help give hope to more than 2,000 Michigan residents waiting for an organ or tissue transplant by adding your name to the donor registry.

The Secretary of State has made enrolling on the registry easy.  You may enroll online at the department’s Web site at www.Michigan.gov/sos . Donor enrollment cards may also be downloaded and printed.  In addition, postage-paid, pre-addressed enrollment cards are mailed with all driver’s licenses and state identification cards and are available at any branch office.

Be “One-in-a-Million”! Your choice to “donate life” will bring hope to someone waiting for a transplant.
